Highway 48's Northern Terminus lies within the [[Westward Village Reservation|Settlements/Westward Village Reservation]] where it intersects with the Western Terminus of the [[Highway 5 Spur|Transit/Routes/Highway 5]].

Proceeding South, a detour bypasses the planned 48/[[230|Transit/Routes/Highway 230]] connector.

There is a covered interchange with S 55th Street, after which the highway transitions from pavement to path, with the exception of a bridge.

After intersecting Southern Shore Trail, Highway 48 comes to its Southern Terminus with an overlook.
